Use of Technology
Technology and education go hand in hand in today's world and at Mars1, our goal is to make our learners digitally literate such that they may accomplish various tasks with ease using technology. Towards that end, we ensure that technology is made an integral part of the daily routine for our learners by not only incorporating the use of projectors, tablets and laptops into our learning activities, but also by using interactive technology.
Interactive Learning Floor
In the past, children were asked to sit still while learning. But today we know that movement has a positive impact on learning. We have thus moved a part of our daily routine in Mars1.
The interactive learning floor at Mars1 promotes teamwork, communication, and creativity through play. It is an integral part of our curriculum at Mars1 that exposes learners to auditory, visual, and kinaesthetic learning. Since the interactive learning floor has content for maths, language, science, arts, and sports, it is integrated into all the subjects in our curriculum.
This floor entails fun-filled, interactive games which keep our astronauts engaged and their motor senses and skills challenged while learning. It also helps to incorporate IT learning into our daily routine enjoyably.
Cubetto
Cubetto is a friendly, wooden robot that teaches children between the ages of 3 and 5 to code. Cubetto does not have a screen or literacy and is powered by a programming language that can be touched. And Cubetto is part of the curriculum at Mars1! At Mars1, we have a transdisciplinary approach to learning and Cubetto ties in perfectly with this approach.
Cubetto is intended for experimentation, amusement and collaboration while fostering learning in fundamental areas, such as creative thinking, STEM and English. Children need to arrange a sequence of instructions to create a program for Cubetto. As they do so, they develop their computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
Every route that Cubetto takes based on the program created by children is a correct one and when children realise this, they know that they cannot be wrong and thus, feel encouraged and confident about using Cubetto. Cubetto is an excellent tool to learn the basics of programming concepts.
